As many people have associated reality TV shows with celebrity drama and pop culture, relevant TV shows to the everyday lives of many people have quietly snuck their way into top spots on large networks. A great example of this is television series about gold mining in Alaska, and it now has a fan base of tens of millions. The part that affects the hearts of many eager fans is mainly that they share the common dream of expressing their free American spirit as is portrayed by the Hoffman crew.
After the initial release of the first season, it did not seem that Discovery Channel's 'Gold Rush' series would be such a giant overall success. Hundreds of reality TV shows exist and have existed for many years, but why would this one become such a success? While many had dreams of exploring new frontiers and enjoying freedom and unadulterated nature all while being financially successful, there is only a handful of people courageous enough to take a first step.
TV show about gold mining was focused on these few individuals who set out to live their dreams of mining gold in the beautiful Alaskan wilderness. As pioneers of the new age, these rookie gold miners risked it all to do something different and unrelated to the dwindling global economic health. Precious metals will always be a commodity on which one can rely, and what better way to obtain this asset than to dig it out of the ground?
Parker received funding from his benevolent grandfather and Todd and Jack scrounged up every last red cent, and at last a second season was in order with new hopes for them to find the mother lode. With Dakota Fred being the new owner of the Porcupine Creek claim, there were now three gold mining crews on the Gold Rush on the Discovery Channel. The second season did not seem to have any less challenges for any of the crews than the first.
After OSHA slowing down the Schnavel crew and Dakota Fred's crew, Dakota Fred stealing the Hoffman's claim, and torrential floods swallowing Fred's home, the shared dream of striking it rich mining gold seemed just out of reach for all of them. However, towards the end of the second season of Gold Rush on Discovery, Fred's and Todd's crew actually began to find decent amounts of gold, but Parker is still left with empty pockets and the need to graduate high school before he embarks a lifetime of mining gold.
