Here again, good judgment is needed, Norton's Internet Security help with making sound judgments. This goes along with Norton's anti-phishing, parental control management, proactive performance alerts, Norton's insight, system wide and downloading, and identity safe.
I find this Norton's Internet Security not only thorough but it runs quickly and is very user friendly. Then I got the Norton and replaced the McAfee and what a difference. I have used Norton for three or four years. All you have to do is enter the product key and you're good to go for another year. There should be no reason I have to waste time every day, running something manually and hoping it will process. I needed the mac Norton internet antivirus and they did not let me cancel the order after buying the item.
It runs in the background and does its thing. Quick scan is fast too.
My computer is at least twice as fast and maybe more. I have more options on what I want to do as far as security goes and it doesn't interfere with other things I want to do. Now, every-time I boot my computer, I open Norton and turn the whole thing off until next reboot. It is inconvenient and time consuming to do this, but that is how annoying I find this software. It works for 3 computers. I purchased this version to replace my last successful Amazon purchase of Norton 2010, and Norton renewed my subscription on both my laptops without me initiating.
There is a feature to the NIS program that if you think there may still be a problem after you do a virus scan to click here. Well, I clicked the area and a new program called Norton Power Eraser was displayed.
Norton is a good product. It does a good job of scanning without slowing down performance while using other programs.
Both computers now have a shorter boot-up time and I really like the features of this security software over Trend Micro and Zone Alarm that I had before. I had a $15 off coupon from Norton to purchase this on their site, but when I checked price it was going to be more for 1 user with my coupon than the Amazon price of $24.99 for 3 PCs. The problems I ran into: By installing this before the actual expiration date of my existing Norton Internet Security I shortchanged myself, because the expiration now is 365 days from date of the install, rather than 365 days added onto the existing expiration date. Then during the Norton install - it found the existing product but rather than save all settings and password, it deleted the existing Norton Internet Security and installed a fresh new copy with factory settings.
I still use it though and have had good results using both. Other than that, it does what I bought it to do, Keep my comp's running. During installation, you may notice wireless connection disconnecting a couple of times, annoying, but doesn't affect anything. There has been slight improvement in performance this year. Norton uses a website-based parental control option now. Despite being called a different name and being able to set profiles for family members, it is not reliable and not well thought-out.
